Our Story
For over 180 years, Dalton First United Methodist Church has stood at the heart of our city—serving generations with faith, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to the community we call home. Since the early 1840s, we’ve grown alongside Dalton, evolving to meet the needs of a changing world while staying rooted in the unchanging love of Christ.
As part of the United Methodist Church, we belong to a global connection of believers who are united in mission, grounded in grace, and committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Our heritage combines thoughtful faith, passionate service, and a heart for justice and mercy.

Where we are headed...
But our story isn’t just about history—it’s about hospitality. We believe church should be a place where everyone feels seen, known, and loved. That’s why we live out the Methodist motto of “Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors.” No matter where you come from or where you’re going, there is a place for you here.
From traditional worship to modern expressions of faith, from small groups to city-wide service, we are a church on a journey—led by God’s Spirit, anchored in Christ, and shaped by the hope we share together.

OUR VISION
In the next THREE YEARS, Dalton First United Methodist Church will
impact 450 people each weekend with our on-campus worship
experiences. We will pursue excellence at every level because we believe
it honors God and inspires people. We will create life-changing
experiences that are welcome and friendly to both Christians and people
outside of faith. On our campus, people are winsomely welcomed,
radically loved, and offered acceptance in a non-creepy way. We will offer
multiple worship-experiences that all align under one vision and one
mission!
We will baptize 75 people over the next three years. We will celebrate
decisions and tangible life-change on a consistent basis.
Our kid’s ministry will be re-VAMPED, re-BRANDED, and re-SOURCED
to create irresistible environments that draw children to Jesus. We will
teach, love, and lead 90 kids each weekend.
We will build a strong and intentional DISCIPLESHIP PATHWAY that will
result in 50% of adults and students actively engaged in groups, classes
and serving.
We will continue to be a church that prioritizes serving our community
through Local Missions. We will support and partner with agencies
across Dalton to impact our world. Finances will follow our 3 year vision
and the Kingdom fruit that God brings. Our people will buy-in with their
time, talent and treasure. Dalton First will be known for the way we love
and serve our community.
